This has nothing to do with mental health. I’ve been so busy these last few days that I’ve hardly been at a computer. That said…
Annoyance. I don’t know if you all knew this, but I’m a practicing Christian. The only reason I’m even mentioning it is because my annoyance starts when I searched Amazon for “Christian car window decals.” The first few were nice, and I continued scrolling. All of a sudden I’m hit with all this 50 shades crap bc of the main male characters name. I was actually more than a little annoyed, to be honest, I was a bit angry.
I’m very vocal about how I hate these books, and it’s not only because of the unhealthy relationship portrayed (which is why most of my friends are against it), but I’m incensed that the author wrote the first book as a fanfic in the twilight fandom, and literally changed names and added a few more scenes. This goes against the basic understanding in fandom. Even if the book wasn’t about this particular subject, I would refuse to read it on principle alone.
Now, do not let this get confused with books written that are inspired by a fandom. Those do not take a pre-existing fanfic and sell it as a book. Inspiration is awesome. Just.. don’t do what this woman has done. (And yes, I was so so happy when there was a Twitter q&a with her and almost everyone bashed her to her face. I know I shouldn’t have gotten so much glee out of it, and I did, eventually come to terms with it to God.)
But… back to my point. I shouldn’t have to see this 50 shades crap. I wish there was an automatic filter where I could make it so that I would never see anything relating to these books at all.
